Police officers arrested 24-year-old Jeffery Antonio Langford Jr. for the suspected murder of his mother on Saturday night at The Pointe at Northridge Apartments in North Salt Lake.

When police arrived at the apartment, the body of 45-year-old Graciela Laura Holker was found between a coffee table and couch, North Salt Lake Police Department stated.

Court documents indicate Langford posted three Facebook Live videos of his mother's body before first responders arrived. Langford originally told police that his mother shot herself three times with a revolver and cut her own neck with a knife. Detectives believe the gunshot wounds are inconsistent with a suicide, according to court docs. Medical examiners are expected to do a full investigation.

Although not confirmed at this time, police believe the Facebook Live videos to be of Langford and his mother shortly after the woman was shot once in the head. In the first video, the suspect is seen crying – with what appears to be – the body of the victim. In the second video, he reiterated his statement that he did not shoot his mother and would not be going to jail. At some point, Langford put a pillow under his mother's head with Rosary beads on her neck, police said.

During an interview with detectives, Langford explained he filmed his mother as a call for help.

Later in the interview, Langford claimed he saw his mother shoot herself in the head but that she was still breathing and moving her eyes. He then admitted to investigators that he shot her afterward so she would no longer be in pain. He told investigators he began to panic and went to his room to pack his bags, according to court documents.

Langford told police that he had consumed multiple alcoholic drinks prior to the incident. He made contact with police before the first responders arrived and exited the apartment to be greeted by medical personnel. Detectives think the reddish-brown substance on his face and clothes was blood.

Langford was arrested on the suspicion of murder, obstruction of justice, and possessing a deadly weapon while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
