(KUTV) — A 46-year-old man was arrested Monday as a result of a joint operation led by Parowan authorities involving child sex crimes.

Eugene H. Alvarado, 46, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. after allegedly traveling from Sunnyvale, California to meet what he thought were two 13-year-old girls. Alvarado had allegedly convinced them to run away from their home, and he was going to take them back to California.

Throughout the investigation, Alvarado also allegedly discussed having sexual intercourse with the minors and used the internet to send them pornographic images.

Alvarado was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Iron County jail.

This investigation is ongoing and involves several other suspects.
