Man arrested on multiple accusations of child sex abuse and other charges
(KUTV)- Thursday afternoon, Cache County Sheriff's Office, in northern Utah, arrested 19-year-old, Christopher VanDam of Lewiston, on multiple counts of sodomy on a child, sex abuse of a child, sexual battery, and bestiality.
According to a press release, police know of "at least five victims ranging in ages from 4 to 13-years-old." Police believe the abuse had been ongoing for several years, but investigators are still actively working this case for more information.
"People who were involved in an incident or were a victim of an incident will think it's easier for them to report one now that somebody else has," Chad Jensen Sheriff of Cache County, said. "There is always a possibility."
"Being a victim of a crime is horrible, being a victim of a sex crime is horrific, being a victim of a child sex crime is worse than horrific," Sheriff Jensen said.
Sheriff Jensen said they take these cases very seriously and will chase down every lead possible, "We will interview every victim, every suspect, (look at) every piece of evidence and bring these cases to justice," he said.
Cache County Sheriff's Office is asking any citizen who may have additional information to contact their office through the tip line at 435-755-1100.
Lewiston sits against the Idaho border on the northern boundary of Utah.
