UPDATE: Man who fell inside elevator shaft at Salt Lake airport construction site die

    (UPDATE 2/2/19 9:15 p.m.) -- The man who fell 40 feet inside an elevator shaft has died, airport officials confirm.

    (KUTV) -- A man fell inside an elevator shaft at a construction site at the Salt Lake City International Airport on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the airport.

    At approximately 10:20 a.m., the 50-year-old man fell nearly 40 feet.

    He was taken to the hospital shortly after.

    The airport says the man is an employee of the contractor Holder-Big D. Joint venture.

    The accident is still under investigation.
