Man found dead in VASA Fitness hot tub, police investigating
(KUTV) Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a hot tub at a Sandy VASA Fitness Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt. Dean Carriger, gym members tried to perform CPR on a man they found unconscious in a hot tub at VASA's location at 7990 S. 1300 E.
Officials from Sandy Fire responded to the emergency call and, after unsuccessfully attempting to resuscitate him, pronounced 54-year-old Steven Tew, a Sandy resident, dead at the scene. Police say the death is not being investigated as a drowning, though the exact cause of death is still unknown.
There are no signs of injuries, Carriger says. The medical examiner's office will determine the man's cause of death.
