A man was transported to the hospital in critical condition after a crash involving a semi truck on State Route 138 in Grantsville.

Utah Highway Patrol officials said a semi with two empty gravel belly dump trailers was traveling westbound on SR-138 just before 9 a.m. on Friday.

A blue Ford Raptor was traveling eastbound on the road when, for "an unknown reason," the driver of the Ford Raptor veered into oncoming traffic and struck the semi truck.

Officials said the semi jackknifed and one of the trailers came disengaged. Other agencies were called to assist as the semi lost 100-200 gallons of fuel on the road and shoulder in the dirt with no drains nearby.

The driver of Raptor was transported by air to the hospital in critical condition. The semi driver did not sustain injuries.

Both lanes on SR-138 were closed from westbound Midvalley Highway to eastbound Edra Way. Officials said the road reopened at 12:30 p.m. and had a way around the closure.
