(KUTV) The family of missing hiker Benjamin Kritzer located his body Tuesday in Ferguson Canyon, according to Unified Police.
He was located around 5:30 p.m., days after Saratoga Springs police requested help locating the man after he went missing last Thursday.
Neighbors say they last saw the North Carolina native, 28, up the canyon on Thursday. No one is known to have seen him alive again. Police didn't believe he was equipped for anything but trail hiking and during the time he was missing cold weather, including snow, passed into Utah.
Kritzer moved to Saratoga Springs about a year and half ago.
Crews searched with dogs and drones.
Kritzer's car was found at the trail head on Saturday. Police also tried to ping his cell phone, but said it's appeared dead since Thursday.
His family drove in from North Carolina Sunday night to help look for him. They say he always lets them know when he's going hiking.
"Apparently, when he first got here on Thursday he took a picture and sent it to his family, of a flower that is common to this time of year in the Utah mountains," Det. Ken Hansen with the Unified Police Department said.
Search and rescue crews were not looking for Kritzer on Tuesday when his family found him.
