Governor will officially sign the Mountain Accord

Mountain Accord to be officially signed.

(KUTV) The official signing of the historic Mountain Accord will happen Monday.

It's a plan to further develop the Cottonwood Canyons and is serving as a give and take between the government and private ski resorts. Some of the resorts will give up land to the government and allow them to be protected from development.

The Mountain Accord committee is comprised of private business leaders, government leaders and environmentalists.

Their goal is to create a plan to protect the mountains and watershed while still allowing people to enjoy the land.

The official signing by the governor will take place between 10 and 10:30a.m. Monday morning at Big Cottonwood Canyon park and ride in Cottonwood Heights.

2News will bring you the latest on the signing at Noon.
