(KUTV) - New evidence released today in a November triple homicide-suicide in Mapleton says mental health issues may have been at play between parents Timothy and Jessica Griffith.

From the newly unsealed search warrant. :

A separate warrant was drafted and obtained for all electronic data stored on the electronic devices and any cloud based data related to those electronic devices. During the investigation I located several messages indicating Jessica Griffith was sick and may not have had much longer to live. I also found google searches for ovarian cancer. In speaking to known family and friends I learned that Jessica has suffered with depression. I also learned that Jessica and Timothy have been messaging about when this tragic incident would take place. I have also learned from family that Timothy Griffith was a violent person and may have also been suffering from mental illness.
At this time I am requesting the prescription histories for Jessica Griffith and Timothy Griffith in an attempt to determine if Jessica Griffith or Timothy Griffith were taking medication for depression or any other mental illness or diseases as this will assist me in understanding why these homicides occurred.

-Det. Michael McCoy, Mapleton Police Department
