(KUTV) — Changes were expected in the leadership of the Utah House and Senate after ballots were cast on Tuesday.

The next president of the Utah State Senate will be J. Stuart Adams (R-Davis County), 2News confirmed.

Adams, currently the Majority Whip, was the only member to declare his intention to run.

The next Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives would likely be Brad Wilson (R-Draper).

Greg Hughes, the current Speaker, told 2News "nothing is official until it's official," though.

"Nothing in politics is official until it's officials but it appears that Rep. Brad Wilson will be elected by his colleagues to be the next Speaker of the House and Senator Adams will be the next Senate President. Stay tuned..." Hughes wrote in a statement to 2News.

The state's Republican leaders were expected to meet Thursday night for an official vote.
