(KUTV) - Hundreds of residents in Salt Lake City were displaced after a 27-year-old man caused a stand-off with police at 500 East and 300 South.

The suspect called dispatch at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, making threats to himself, police and people in the apartment complex, police say.

The apartment was evacuated as a result, and police blocked off 500 East between 300 and 400 South at the MoDA apartments.

According to police, the man was walking in and out of his apartment unit with weapons.

After a six hour stand-off, SWAT entered the apartment unit with some sort of gas.

At 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning, police safely transported the man to a hospital. Police recovered a knife and possibly a fake gun from the scene.

Police say charges could be filed.

All roads and the apartment complex are now open.
