WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — West Valley police officers have identified the man who was fatally struck in Thursday's car crash involving a 15-year-old driving a stolen vehicle.
Officers of the West Valley City Police Department said that 24-year-old Adrian Hernandez-Rodriguez was standing outside of a home on Lehi Drive when the 15-year-old suspect was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed and missed a curve in the road, losing control of his vehicle and striking Rodriguez.

It was not clarified if Rodriguez was killed on impact or if he was transported first and then succumbed to his injuries either en route or at the hospital.
This incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the area of 3300 Lehi Drive.
After hitting Rodriguez, the suspect reportedly continued to flee from police before hitting the side of a house and rupturing a gas line.
The suspect was later located on the floor of the ground outside of the stopped vehicle and taken into custody.
Several homes in the area had to be evacuated pursuant to the investigation.
