(KUTV) An Ogden judge has decided a Utah teen will remain behind bars while he appeals his case.
Cooper Van Huizen, 17, was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to armed robbery in May.
In November, Cooper and a group of boys entered a Roy home and held two people at gunpoint, demanding money, cell phones and marijuana. Cooper got the guns from his home.
Cooper's parents have been fighting his sentence and hired a lawyer who filed an appeal in July.
On Tuesday, the judge ruled the teen will have to stay behind bars while the court of appeals looks at the case.
Cooper is currently being held in Daggot County Jail.
