(KUTV)- It's taken two years to complete, and $80m dollars, but the new Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy is fully ready for lights, camera, action!

The opening gala was held Thursday night, with a performance of Aida.

It took place inside the Centre Stage Theater which holds 900 people. All of the seats are circled around the stage. The stage itself can twist, turn and move in a variety of directions.

There is also a second theatre inside the building called the Sorenson Legacy Jewel Box Stage. Performances of “Forever Plaid” have been running there for the last few weeks.

“Aida” will run on the Center Stage through to the Spring and it’ll be followed by the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. There will be a total of 10 different productions on that stage, in 2018.
