(KUTV) — Salt Lake Police arrested a man suspected in the murder of 28-year-old Emilio Salazar who died after a shooting at a party in the early Saturday morning.
Ninteen-year-old Alex Christopher Mendoza Junior, AKA Baby Alex, was also arrested on three counts of felony discharge of a firearm. In documents submitted to the court, police said he was a danger to others and requested no bail.
In the same document, the arresting officer said Mendoza is well-known to police as a member of the Chiques gang.
"He has been implicated in numerous shootings and weapons offenses, including homicides and charged with violent felonies," the document stated.
Salt Lake Police were called to 1172 W., California Avenue on Saturday morning on a report that a man was shot.
The court document states the victim was found in the carport area bleeding from the head.
He was taken to the hospital where he died seven hours later.
Detectives interviewed several witnesses before making the arrest later that night.
