Police arrest suspect after ramming officer vehicles in Millcreek
(KUTV)- Unified Police reported Sunday the suspect, Harley Gregory Welsh, who stole a car and rammed police vehicles has been arrested and taken into custody.
Saturday night Welsh was spotted in South Salt Lake and led police on a chase to Millcreek where he got out of his car and ran.
In a tweet around 12:45 p.m., Unified Police identified the suspect, Harley Gregory Welsh, 39, as the man who was behind the wheel during the chase and auto theft.
Officers came across Welsh around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday near 3900 S. Howick Street where he appeared to be sleeping inside a suspected stolen vehicle. Officers placed spike strips around the car’s tires and boxed it in with their cruisers before waking Welsh.
When Welsh woke up, he put the car in gear, rammed the cruisers, and led officers on a chase that ended near 32 East Central Ave in Millcreek, according to Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen.
No officers were injured and the cruisers sustained minor damage as a result of being rammed.
