(KUTV) — A Provo man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing a 4-month-old infant.
On Monday evening, the Provo Dispatch Center received a call reporting that a baby was not breathing. When they arrived, officers found an unresponsive infant, identified as 4-month-old Nevaeh King, with serious injuries.
King was taken to Utah Valley Hospital and then Life Flighted to Primary Children's hospital in Salt Lake City.
The infant died on Wednesday morning of serious head and neck injuries, in addition to abdominal hemorrhaging.
Cameron Willingham, the mother's boyfriend, was subsequently arrested.
"This is a continuing investigation," the Provo Police Department said in a news release. "We are shocked by the death of a defenseless person, but we want to assure the community that we are carefully investigating this case. We remind people that charges are merely accusations and that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty."
