A man charged with raping a woman in Provo claims he has multiple personalities and one of them told him that his sexual encounter with a woman was consensual, according to court documents filed Monday.

Prosecutors charged Dillon McKay Price, 24, with one count of rape for the incident which occurred in Provo on Dec. 10.

According to an indictment in Fourth District Court, Provo Police were called to the Utah Valley Hospital ER when a victim arrived for treatment after a sexual assault.

The victim said Price threatened her with knives before forcibly raping her.

Officers obtained information about the incident and later located Price walking down a street in Provo.

“[Price] started off saying that he did not remember anything from yesterday. Dillon stated that he slept all day and nothing happened. Latter (sic) on in the interview Dillon stated that he had multiple personalities and that Edmond was telling him that he has consensual sex with the victim,” a Provo Police report says.

Detectives also obtained a letter written by Price to the rape victim where he allegedly apologized for “not being able to stop Edmond from what he did.” Edmond is the name of Price’s other personality, according to a probable cause statement.

Price is held in the Utah County Jail on $20,000 cash only bail. Price is from Lawton, OK and was visiting Utah, according to court records.
