(KUTV) — Salt Lake City residents were found to be some of the worst drivers in the nation.

According to a new study by QuoteWizard, a company that helps customers compare insurance rates, Salt Lake City drivers ranked sixth in the nation for worst drivers.

Portland, Ore. and Boise, Idaho ranked first and second, the study shows.

QuoteWizard used 2019 data from millions of insurance quotes to complete the study. The results are based on the number of accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs and citations in America's 75 largest cities.

Worst driving cities in U.S. in 2019:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. Boise, ID
  3. Virginia Beach, VA
  4. Columbus, OH
  5. Sacramento, CA
  6. Salt Lake City, UT
  7. Cleveland, OH
  8. Denver, CO
  9. San Francisco, CA

Best driving cities in the U.S. in 2019:

  1. Detroit, MI
  2. Louisville, KY
  3. Chicago, IL
  4. Miami, FL
  5. Grand Rapids, MI
  6. Little Rock, AR
  7. St. Louis, MO
  8. New Orleans, LA
  9. Fort Myers, FL

For several years, Salt Lake City drivers have been among the worst in the country.

Studies by QuoteWizard show the Utah drivers were the worst in 2016, took third in 2017 and ranked ninth in 2018.

Based on this ongoing trend, QuoteWizard determined where the "worst of the worst drivers live" and where "the best of the worst drivers are."
