(KUTV) -- Matthew Ballard is being heralded as a kind man and beloved by his family. The father of six died Monday following a dirt biking accident near Eagle Mountain, March 30th.

While biking with a friend at approximately 3 p.m., Ballard suddenly fell approximately 75 feet and was critically injured, according to his family.

Though Ballard was wearing the appropriate gear to keep his chest, back, and head safe, part of his intestines were removed because of the extensive injuries he incurred in the fall.

His family reported that every limb was either broken or severely damaged, including his kidney, liver, and spleen. His brain activity was also an issue. Ultimately, the 39-year-old man from the South Jordan succumbed to his injuries.

"His life was a life of service, hard work, and ultimately love. He loved adventures and extreme sports, but he loved people infinitely more," said his sister-in-law, Jaelyn Sorensen.

His children also issued the following statement to 2News, "He was an awesome dad. We loved him so, so much.”

The family has a GoFundMe page set up to help with medical expenses.
