Sandy fire starts in garage, badly damages house
(KUTV) Fire fighters in Sandy battled a blaze that badly damaged a home Monday afternoon. Neighbors said they came out of their homes to find the garage on fire.
The Sandy Fire Department battled the blaze and said when crews arrived the garage was mostly on fire and the blaze was extending into the attic. Some members of the family were inside the home but they were able to make it out without injury. The fire was extinguished but officials said the house has severe damage and is not habitable.
A home next door had some heat damage to its siding but was never on fire.
There were some cars in the garage and they burned up as well.
Officials said the emergency call was to Buttercup Drive. Neighbors said the flames spread to the roof before fire fighters arrived to put out the fire.
