Crews have recovered the body of a skier who was buried in an avalanche Friday afternoon in Emery County.

The body of 26-year-old Michael Besendorfer of Nephi was found Saturday in a remote area north of Electric Lake.

Crews first began searching for Besendorfer's body last night, "but conditions were deemed too dangerous and the search was suspended at midnight," according to a news release from the Emery County Sheriff's Office.

UDOT blasted some unstable areas Saturday morning, allowing crews to resume their search by ground and air.

"Utah Avalanche Center monitored conditions as searchers were inserted by air, on snowmobiles, timber sleds, snow cats, skis and snowshoes," Emery County Sheriff's said. "A search dog and handler were flown in, and teams from Alta Ski Resort and Wasatch Back Country Rescue responded to offer their expertise."

Crews found Besendorfer's body around noon thanks to search dog 'Lucy.'
