SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (KUTV) — Police identified a father and son they say were involved in a fatal stabbing in South Salt Lake that stemmed from an argument over a television.
Police identified the suspect Tuesday as 38-year-old Warren Richard Phelps, who, according to police, was taken into custody without incident.
The man killed was identified as Richard Phelps, the father of Warren Richard Phelps.
Police officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute Monday, 6:32 p.m., where officers arrived at an apartment located in South Salt Lake at 2757 S. 300 East. The officers found the body of a 65-year-old man in a bedroom.
Despite paramedics' efforts, the victim was unresponsive to revival attempts and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It appears that an argument between the father and son led up to the stabbing," police said in a release Tuesday.
Warren Richard Phelps was booked into Salt Lake County jail and charged with murder, a first-degree felony.
The case is being screened by the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office for formal charges.
