Santa Clara, Utah -- (KUTV) The southern Utah town of Santa Clara is shocked that the couple, at the center of a national domestic violence death on an Alaskan cruise ship , is from their neighborhood.
According to court documents, Kristy Manzanares was found in her cabin, surrounded by blood and with a brutal head wound. The suspect arrested in this murder is her husband Kenny Manzanares.
Fred Fagergren, a neighbor, has lived next door to the Manzanares family, said he has no clue how this sort of violence could have been brought down on one of their own in the community.
"Just no hint that there was any violent tendencies or conflicts in the family," Fagergren said.
Kristy and Kenneth Manzanares have three daughters together and Fagergren always saw the family as a fun, kind group and never suspected any sort of violence.
"It never entered my mind that it would have been the husband that would have been suspected, it was just a real shock,” Fagergren said.
For about a year and a half Kristy Manzanares has been working for Summit Sotheby’s International Reality. The company released this statement following the news of her death.
It is with a very heavy heart and great sadness that I announce the untimely passing of a member of the Summit Sotheby’s International Realty family. Kristy Manzanares has been a trusted advisor and valued sales associate in our St. George office since the firm announced its expansion to Southern Utah a few years ago. Kristy’s talents, integrity, and passion for the real estate brokerage business will be missed by all not only in St. George, but throughout the state of Utah. Kristy was a dedicated and loving mother who juggled her business schedule to make her children the top priority. We will miss Kristy’s vibrant personality, welcoming smile, kind heart, and compassion for everyone she met.
