St. George man arrested on 30 counts of identification fraud
(KUTV) -- A St. George man was booked into the Washington County jail on Wednesday from an arrest associated with identification fraud.
Agents with the Office of the Utah Attorney General Investigations Divisions - S.E.C.U.R.E. Strike Force were made aware of a case involving the manufacture and transference of fraudulent documents.
A credible source tipped off the Utah agency that was able to identify the suspect by a Nevada ID card with the name and date of birth of 39-year-old Francisco Daniel Partida Soto.
Soto is accused of being involved in the illegal manufacture and distribution of fraudulent identification documents, such as Green Cards and Social Security cards.
According to the arrest report, an undercover agent was able to make purchases with Soto for a forged Social Security card and a U.S. resident card - also known as a "Green Card."
The transactions were performed through the mail and payment was wired by Western Union, the arrest report stated.
The agent also ordered and received 30 Green cards and Social Security cards from an in-person transaction that took place in a Walmart parking lot.
Soto was arrested after that transaction at the shopping center took place, the police report said.
Investigators stated in the arrest report they believed Soto was manufacturing the forgeries from his St. George residence.
The report did not state how much the transactions were between Soto and the undercover agent. However, Soto now faces 30 counts of second-degree felony forgery charges.
