One woman dead, one man in critical condition after reported stabbing in Salt Lake

UPDATE: (Nov. 9, 1:38 p.m.) -- The Salt Lake City Police released the identity of the female victim in Wednesday's stabbing as 20-year-old Candace Rose Samples.

The stabbing occurred at 477 N. 300 West near a Dollar Store.

UPDATE: (Nov. 8, 5:37 a.m.) -- Police that a fight over some small items triggered a stabbing in Salt Lake City.

A well-known transient camp is set up at the Dollar Tree dumpster near the scene.

Neighbors told police there are homeless people outside their homes every night and that it often causes problems.

Police are yet to recover the knife used in the attack.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. All units are on the lookout for him and homicide detectives are investigating the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a balding, Hispanic man who was wearing a tan jacket and a blanket at the time of the stabbing.

(KUTV) — One woman was killed and a man was in critical condition after a reported stabbing near downtown Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

Police were on scene in the area of 500 North 300 West near downtown Salt Lake.

Police said they were looking for a bald Hispanic male wearing a blanket in connection with the incident.

Police also told 2News all three of the people involved were believed to be homeless.

There was no immediate threat to others in the area, police told 2News at the scene.
