(KUTV) — New details have surfaced following Saturday's Riverton shooting.

Shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Jan. 20, a police officer interrupted a burglar, Llewelyn, who was prowling among cars.

Llewelyn fled from the officer on foot and, only moments later, encountered another officer. Llewelyn shot at the officer's vehicle and then exchanged fire with officer.

During these events, Llewelyn broke into a residence in order to steal a vehicle.

The homeowner was shot as he was confronting Llewelyn. The homeowner has been listed as in good condition and is currently recovering.

In the months prior to this incident, Llewelyn was living with family near the Riverton/Herriman border. Llewelyn has an extensive criminal background with multiple bookings into the Salt Lake County Jail over the past 15 years.

Llewelyn is considered armed and "extremely dangerous," according to police. He has already fired at police officers on two occasions. Police advise that anyone who encounter him use extreme caution.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Llewelyn is asked to call police immediately.
