(KUTV) A 21-year-old man is dead after a fire consumed a Taylorsville house Friday morning.

A neighbor called authorities at 2:00 a.m. to report the fire, which occurred at 3478 West Valley Heights Drive.

The blaze burned huge portions of the house and destroyed a truck in the garage. Fire crews believe the fire started in a bedroom.

The 21-year-old decedent was found in the front room; one cat and one dog were also found dead.

"CPR was performed," said Matt Rhoades, Unified Fire battalion chief. "Life saving measures were taken, but just a little bit too late with that, unfortunately."

Multiple people live in the house, but the 21-year-old man was the only person home at the time, according to investigators.

Fire crews do not yet know what caused the fire. It also unknown at this time whether the decedent lived at the home or was visiting, but he was alone.

Authorities do not find the fire suspicious, but are conducting an investigation.
