16-year-old girl dies after falling off waterfall in Santaquin Canyon

UPDATE: Utah County Sheriff's Office released the identity of the teen who died after falling down a waterfall Monday morning as 16-year-old Kaylee Marvin.

She was hiking with a friend near the top of a steep climb when she lost her footing while trying to cross a log. She then fell approximately 100 feet straight down, according to Utah County Sheriff Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

Her father responded to the scene later.

(KUTV) — A 16-year-old girl has died after a 100-foot fall from a waterfall. It happened Monday morning about four miles up Santaquin Canyon.

Her injuries were initially described by police as serious. It's understood crews at the scene did try to revive her with CPR and AED, but a short time later, the victim passed away from her injuries.

Multiple agencies remain on scene including AirMed, SAR and Santaquin police officers.
