Terror for a Utah teen after being followed in her car and threatened at gunpoint
(KUTV) -- Gracee Horrocks was on her way home after a family game night when she noticed another vehicle following her a little too close.
She was driving down 3500 South when the car then followed her all the way to 6400 West. When Horrocks pulled up at the intersection at 8400 West, she said she could feel someone’s eyes on her.
When she looked over to her right, the vehicle that had been behind her, was now beside her and she tells us the driver, was holding a handgun and pointing it right at her.
At that same moment, her light turned green and she sped away from the intersection. Thankfully the other driver didn’t follow her from there.
Horrocks says she now realizes how terribly this could have gone. She describes the vehicle as a green Chevy blazer pulling a trailer, and the driver was a middle-aged, white man, with a black beard and was possibly wearing a beanie.
KUTV spoke with Utah Police Department about what to do if you encounter someone on the road acting oddly.
Police say if you notice someone following you in your car to follow these steps:
- Don’t engage with that person at all
- Let them pass you
- Avoid eye contact
- Stay in your car
- If they’re following you, don’t lead them back to your house
- Call the police and/or drive to a police station
