(KUTV) Three people died in a fatal accident in Herriman Sunday evening.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., a passerby called 911 near the corner of 7300 West and Herriman Highway, saying they saw a red BMW in a ravine north of Herriman Highway, went to investigate and discovered three deceased people.
Lieutenant Cody Stromberg with Herriman Police Department told 2News the car may have been traveling northbound on 7300 West, crossed Herriman Highway and then left the road, landing the ravine late Saturday night.
Herriman Police cannot confirm the identities of the victims and said it's too early to tell if alcohol was involved.
The vehicle has extensive damage and Unified Fire Authority will extricate the vehicle sometime Sunday night.
Herriman Police said speed was a contributing factor to the accident but they are unable to determine the cause. Stromberg said once police gets into the vehicle, they can determine exact contributing factors.
2News has a crew heading to the scene.
