(KUTV) Two men have been charged in the death of Jeffrey Ray Vigil, who was assaulted at the Utah State Prison last month.
According to court documents Albert Collin Fernandez, 38, and Ramon Luis Rivera, 30, attacked 24-year-old Vigil because they were from rival gangs.

Court documents say surveillance video shows Rivera confronting Vigil, then Fernandez punching him. The video shows Fernandez punching and kicking Vigil in the head, multiple times. Then, Rivera began stabbing Vigil "several times," documents say.
The probable cause statement says after Rivera stabbed Vigil, he held him in a choke hold until he became unconscious. After Vigil was unconscious, Rivera "stomped on and kicked" Vigil's head more than 70 times.
Fernandez and Rivera attacked Vigil in the evening on March 14. He was declared dead at a hospital the next morning. He was in prison on a parole violation.
Fernandez is charged with a first degree felony count of murder and a second degree felony count of obstructing justice.
Rivera faces a first degree felony charge for aggravated murder, and two second degree felony counts of possession of prohibited items in prison.
