(KUTV) Utah is one of the best states for trick-or-treating, according to Ibotta, a shopping app company.
Friday, October 27 is the best day to stock up on candy, according to Ibotta. This is when prices are, on average, $1.94 per unit.
"If you don't hit stores Friday, you're looking at paying much higher prices, with Halloween Eve being the worst day to buy when prices soar to $2.75 per unit," says Jennifer Lyle.
The analysis, which examined candy purchases the week before Halloween in 2015 and 2016, also revealed that Americans spend more than $16 per person, on average.
The same analysis also found that Oregon and Washington are the number 1 and 2 states for trick-or-treating, respectively, based on candy spending per person.
Utah is among the top 5 best states for trick-or-treating, along with New Jersey and California.
According to the same data, Ohio is the worst state to trick-or-treat, followed by Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, and Colorado.
