SALT LAKE CITY — (KUTV) — A man who allegedly sexually exploited two women, kidnapped them, raped them, forcing them to have sex for money and physically abused them, is under arrest.
James Savage Brown, 52, faces seven felony charges in the case and is jail with a request that he not be given a bond, according to probable cause documents filed in third district court.
The documents provide details the two women provided to investigators when the two women met in adult detention and discovered they had suffered similar treatment at the hand of Brown.
A woman identified as Victim 1 met Brown at a bus stop in Sandy while Victim 2 was delivering heroin to Brown in a hotel room where he kept her for several days, repeatedly raping her and abusing her until the hotel's managed kicked him out for not paying rent.
Victim 1 said that she was initially held in Brown's apartment and was repeatedly raped. She said for seven or eight years Brown compelled her to work in commercial sex and took all her money while threatening her with violence. He also allegedly forced her to have sex with his friends or acquaintances.
Victim 2 was picked up by police and immediately told them about her captivity in a hotel room. She reported to police that in addition to being raped and being forced to perform other sex acts, she was stepped on, hit with fists, cut on her face, struck with a mini bat all over her body burnt on her breasts and abdomen with a cigarette, struck with a insulin needle and had it broken off in her arm by Brown. She believed he had a gun.
Victim 2 also said Brown used Victim 1's name to recruit others to work for him providing sex.
