Utah teacher accused of engaging in sexual activity at school after student requested it
(KUTV) -- A teacher at Pleasant Grove High School is accused of performing a sexual activity with one of his students, court documents state.
During the spring semester of 2018, Kenneth Ayers, 41, was helping a 17-year-old student with an assignment after school.
The victim told police that he had confided in Ayers about a personal problem. The victim then requested sexual contact from Ayers and he obliged.
During an interview with police, the high school teacher admitted to engaging in the sexual act with the minor, court documents state.
Ayers claimed the student slipped him a note, requesting that the sexual contact. He told authorities he regretted his actions shortly after.
The incident was reported to the Pleasant Grove Police Department by the victim's Clergy.
Ayers has been charged with one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, court documents state.
