Utah Valley University turns blue for autism awareness

    (KUTV) -- Blue is the new color for Utah Valley University - at least temporarily.

    Beginning Monday the university is taking on a new hue with blue lights on its logo on the UCCU Center.

    UVU fans are continuing to wear the school's dominant brand color of green, but is turning a portion of its campus blue in honor of World Autism Awareness Day and “Light It Up Blue.”

    The color is in effect from 4:30 p.m. to midnight.

    Additionally, on April 13, the university is presenting the 8th Annual Autism Conference. which is sponsored by the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism and UVU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Education.

    The all-day event includes workshops and panels about best practices for dealing with autism.

    An Uplifting Celebration for Autism also takes place April 21 with a massive balloon launch, carnival with face painting, games, food, and t-shirts.
