(KUTV) The discovery of a vehicle discovered with a badly burned body inside has prompted investigation from Cache County Sheriff's Department.
A press release from Cache County Sheriff's Office states that deputies responded to a call about the fire on rural private property on the West side of Cache County near Petersboro around 4:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
The fire was not burning when officials arrived, but the press release states it appears to have been burned "within the last day or so."
Detectives from the Sheriff's Office, the State Medical Examiner's Office and resources from the State Fire Marshall's Office have been dispatched to the scene, according to a press release.
Authorities say there are no further details at this time. Detectives will be working throughout the night to identify the person in the vehicle and the circumstances surrounding their death.
