(KUTV) -- Construction is now underway on a new addition to the Humane Society's buildings in Lauren McCluskey's hometown of Pullman, Washington.
The extra wing will eventually bear Lauren's name. It was a place Lauren loved to spend time during high school. She loved animals, particularly cats. The current spot where cats are housed there is cramped and doubles as an administration building.
With the need for extra space dire, the society started construction in October on a wing and a prayer, barely able to cover costs. Then, the McCluskey family asked those who wanted to help, to direct money to the construction of this new building -- and the funds, flooded in.
When it is complete, the extension will likely be named the Lauren McCluskey wing, though the official is still in the works. Construction is expected to be wrapped up, by Spring.
