(KUTV) - Women and men gathered at the Utah State Capitol today to celebrate "International Women's Day."

"The goal is to not only celebrate women-identifying individuals from all walks of life but to encourage women to run for public office, inspire all women to vote and to support legislation for equality for all," Eugenie Hero Jaffe said in a press release.

It was part of KRCL’s Amplifying Women’s Voices Rally.

"As we saw today, women are leading in many important issues," Democratic congressional hopeful Shireen Ghorbani said. "Utah has one of the largest wage gaps in the nation. Women are often making 71 cents on the dollar. It's not good for our communities. It's not good for our families."
