SEATTLE (KOMO) -- Mount Vernon police officer Mike McClaughry, who was shot in the head on Dec. 15, has been moved out of intensive care at Harborview Medical Center.

Harborview says McClaughry is now in acute care.

His daughter, April McClaughry is expected to talk to reporters about her father in a news conference Friday. A surgeon will also provide an update.

A physician told reporters earlier that McClaughry has been improving incrementally.

A GoFundme account has been set up to help with the costs since the shooting.

Police arrested and charged Ernesto Lee Rivas in connection with the shooting after a seven-hour standoff with officers. His bail was set at $1 million.
