SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A woman has been arrested and accused of kidnapping after refusing to return a child in her care to the child's mother.
According to a probable cause statement, the victim left her 2-year-old daughter with her biological mother, identified as 46-year-old Ana Silveria Swenson, while she was at work.
On March 22, 2023, the victim attempted to retrieve her daughter from Swenson, but was refused as Swenson was angry about the victim's recent moving-in with her fiancé, according to a probable cause statement.
Swenson then stated she was taking the child to Florida, according to court records.
Police said after conducting an emergency ping on Swenson’s phone, authorities located her at Salt Lake City International Airport in the Spirit Airlines terminal waiting to board a flight to Orlando, Florida with the child.
Court records show the responding officers, were able to take Swenson into custody and reunite the child with her mother.
Swenson was booked on charges of domestic violence child kidnapping, which is a first-degree felony.
