SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah football crushed Oregon Saturday night at Rice-Eccles Stadium, beating the Ducks 38-7.
No. 23 Utah routed No. 3 Oregon as Kyle Whittingham set a new record for most football coaching wins at Utah with 142, surpassing Ike Armstrong. Utah also qualified for the Pac-12 title game for the third time in four years. This is the first time Utah has beaten a Top 3 team at home.
The Utes took complete control of the game in the last two minutes of the first half. Oregon missed a field goal with 2:02 to play in the second quarter that would have made it 14-3.
The Utes quickly drove the length of the field and scored on Tavion Thomas' second touchdown run of the night to make it 21-0 with 27 seconds left in the first half.
